Transceiver Settings

Most important transceiver settings and notes related to proper operation with our products.

GENERAL

- turn OFF internal CW keyer in the radio

- use separate 12V power supply if radio does not provides auxiliary 12V output.
Do not use same 12V power supply for interface as for transceiver.

ELECRAFT

K2

- do not use PTT in CW mode

- if constant level audio output is low, add amplifier between interface and radio.
Recommended is W3IFP/N0SS audio circuit

K3, K3S

- use DATA A mode for all audio keying based (AFSK) digital modes

- configure CAT for RS232, not USB.
Use E980297 adapter supplied by Elecraft for K3S

- if you have P3, CAT connection flow is microHAM interface - P3 (PC jack) - K3.
Baud rate set to 38400 in all Router, P3 and K3

ICOM

- make sure DIN13 ACC plug is correctly inserted to the radio. Due to its construction it is possible to plug it in upside-down.

- set CI-V baud rate to some particular baud rate, not Auto

- whenever possible, use USB D/LSB D instead USB/LSB for AFSK

- microphone configuration in keyer must be set to EL (MK, MKII) or preamplifier bypassed (MK2R, MK2R+) for stock microphone

IC-7600, 7610, 7700, 7800, 7851

- disable ACC input for SSB
DATA OFF MOD = MIC
DATA1 MOD = ACC-A
DATA2 MOD = ACC-A
DATA3 MOD = ACC-A

IC-7300

- disable ACC input for SSB
DATA OFF MOD = MIC
DATA MOD = ACC

IC-7300, 7610, 7851

For simultaneous USB and CI-V (REMOTE jack) CAT control keeping both band data for microHAM products, and spectrum screen replication in logger use these settings:

USB Serial Function = CI-V
CI-V Baud Rate = 19200
CI-V Address = default CI-V address of the radio
CI-V Transceive = OFF
- can be ON if logger is not confused by automated data
CI-V USB to Remote Transceive address = default remote address of the radio
- address must be different to CI-V Address!
CI-V Output (for ANT) = OFF !!!
CI-V USB Port = UNLINK !!!
CI-V USB Baud Rate: 115200
CI-V USB Echo Back: OFF
- can be ON if logger is not confused by automated data

IC-746, 746Pro, 7400

- short together HSEND and VSEND (pin 6+3) on ACC2 for proper VHF/UHF PTT keying

IC-703, 706, 706mkII, 706mkIIG, 7000

- use rear RJ45 microphone jack

KENWOOD

- make sure DIN13 ACC plug is correctly inserted to the radio. Due to its construction it is possible to plug it in upside-down.

TS-140, 440, 940

- set both front and rear panel PTT (PTT1+2) for digital modes

TEN TEC

- do not use PTT in CW mode (except for Orion)

YAESU

- use PKT/DATA mode for AFSK digital modes

- disable CAT RTS in transceiver menu

FT-817, 857, 897

- do not use rear PTT (PTT2) in CW/USB/LSB

- use DIG/PKT mode for AFSK

FT-920

- for FSK RTTY use radio DATA LSB mode and rear panel switch must be in FSK position.

- for RTTY AFSK or any other digital modes use DATA mode and rear panel switch must be in AFSK position

FT-990

- RTTY TONE DIP Switch = REV

FT-991

- switch serial port function to RS232C (CAT), menu. 28

FT-1000, 1000D

- RTTY DIP Switch nr.5 = ON

FT-1000MP, mkV, mkVField

- set menu 6-1 RTTY polarity to "reversed" on

- use USER mode (push and hold PKT button) if you need USB mode for AFSK (WSJT). Program USER menu according to instructions below:

      - menu 8-6 set to Easy Set = PS31-U

        or
